Has any tried hooking up a keyboard to a guitar amp?
I'm a guitar player looking to play the keyboard, but I don't have a lot of money. So I was wondering if I could just run a keyboard through my guitar amp instead of buying another amplifier for keyboards.
I imagine a keyboard run through a Marshall would sound pretty cool, but then again, I could be wrong. Has anyone here tried this before? What did you think of the sound?
Yes, it will definitely work! I've done it before and for the most part it sounds alright. Just keep in mind that a guitar amp is only made to play the frequencies that a guitar produces. So it's not going to sounds so great on the super low notes, but it'll work just fine until you can get a PA system to play it through...
Is the lead in my guitar amp harmful?
Although I'm not sure, I was under the impression the guitar amplifier speakers were made with lead. Is the fact that my amp in my room harmful over the long term? The amp was made in 1994, and sometimes makes a metallic smell after I've been playing for a while. It's not broken, that's just the way it is. However, I want to know if this could have adverse health consequences.
No. Unless you eat it.
The only lead is in the solder used for the electrical connections of the voice coil wires to the lugs. That is the speakers. In the amp itself there is the circuit board which also probably contains lead solder.
The smell is more likely the materials in the circuit board or insulation in the amp. The lead is not getting into the air.
