Songs Strum Sing
Singing As Well As Playing A Guitar At The Moment
Even when I first started teaching the guitar lessons, it was easy to see that some of the students had an immediate ability to sing and play songs at the same time. But other guitar students struggled to learn any song correctly. Here are a few tips to help you sing and play at the same time.
Spend time with learning the song. After You Can Play it and sing it, try singing and playing the song together.Practice playing the guitar first. Once you can easiliy change the guitar chords and strum it is much easier to learn the song. Buying a metronome and using it can definitely help your guitar playing skills.
Learn the song. Find somebody to help you learn the melody, if you do not already know it. A teacher can be very helpful here. You can start with an easy to play song and preferrable one you know. When you can get the hang of playing with easy songs, then move on to ones with more elaborate chords and strumming patterns.
The last step is to combine the singing and guitar playing. Start off by playing slowly first. In our Christian Guitar Course there is a slow practice session for each lesson that helps students learn each song. If singing and playing is still daunting, try the song with humming and then add the words laterThe last tip should actually be the first step. Imagine that you can already sing and play the guitar with ease. I believe in a personal God and always suggest beginning with prayer.
Everything in nature points to a Designer. Can we really connect with Him in prayer? Without a doubt It could even help your own singing and playing the guitar. Have you tried praying? You can certainly see that a Creator has made this incredible universe. There is no way that the animal kingdom was randomly created by accident.
Remember to start with an easy song. Learn to play it fluidly on the guitar. Spend time with learning the song. After You Can Play it and sing it, try singing and playing the song together.

songs that are easy to sing and play guitar to at the same time?
I have trouble singing and playing guitar at the same time unless the strumming pattern goes along with the singing pattern (simple stuff like "Keep Fishin'" by Weezer, etc). If you know of any songs that are really simple and easy to do this for (preferably acoustic), please let me know.
blink 182 stuff is quit easy to sing and play at the same time so is alot of other punk bands its mostly just palm muted chords over and over.
