Guitars are one of the most popular musical instruments, which is now an intrinsic part of any type of music composition. It has been widely used in our culture in one form or the other. Its various previous forms have been present in various civilizations from five millenniums. However, from last 500 years, those instruments started the journey of evolution and modification, and our modern day guitar started taking shape. Around early 19th century, the production of this modern guitar started and took the Music Industry and music lovers by frenzy. It inspired many great artists and music bands, like John Lennon, The Beatles, The Eagles, and many more legendary music artists, to write and compose some of the most beautiful songs.
Guitars are a primary instrument used in almost all various genres of music. It is a key instrument used in country, jazz, pop, and blues and in the current most popular genre rock music. They can be of two types: Classical instrument and Western instrument. They can be classified into two broad categories depending on their make and for the genre or purpose, they are used for:
1.Acoustic guitars: it is a six-string hollow wooden body guitar. In this, the vibrations which occur in the strings and which are further modulated by the hollow body produce the sound. In these, you do not require any external electronic hearing device to listen to the sound produced. It is gentle and quietest than the other types and some models even come with the option of attaching them to an external amplifier to increase and modify their volume and quality of voice. While playing a in a group or a small gathering, its voice is easily heard but while performing with a band or for a large audience it needs to be connected to an amplifier to be audible. Even they are subcategorised into the following:
Classical guitar, flamingo guitar, folk guitar, steel string guitar, acoustic bass guitar, arched top guitar and many more.

these guitars need to be connected with an amplifier as they produce little sound otherwise. They can have hollow body, semi-hollow body or solid body. These are the most popular and widely preferred guitar currently due to the popularity and craze of rock music worldwide. Electro magnetic pickups are provided, which convert the vibration of the strings into electrical signals, which are then transmitted to the connected guitar amp.
For not only rock music, hard rock and soft rock, they are also used in various other genres like rock and roll, jazz, metal and blues.
There are many subcategories of this category of guitar:
1Electric bass Guitars: they are exclusive variety. There is also a type available, which is a hybrid of acoustic and electric guitar.
2Seven String guitars: they contain seven strings and usually the B string is low and octave G-string is placed with the regular G-string.
3Eight strings: they contain eight strings and are a step forward from the seven-string guitar.
